Rod Stewart – UK Tour 2014

THE CLIENT:

Providing PR support for three dates on Rod Stewart’s 2014 UK tour, taking in concerts in Brighton, Stoke and our home town of Blackpool. Working in conjunction with the event promotors, Cuffe & Taylor.

 

THE CHALLENGE:

  • Driving ticket sales and reaching the widest possible audience of potential ticket buyers
  • Building up anticipation and excitement leading up to the concert date
 

THE WORK:

  • Focusing on building anticipation and excitement in the months leading up to the concerts, ensuring a steady stream of media coverage
  • Major press releases coinciding with the announcement of the tour, tickets going on sale, additional tickets being added, the construction of the stages and the concert itself
  • Conducting an interview with Rod Stewart himself, via phone from L.A. which was then syndicated to national and regional media within a large radius of all three concert venues
  • Targeting regional media outside the immediate areas of each concert, ensuring a wider local audience was aware of the events
  • Promoting the valuable charity work conducted as part of the tour, including the donation of £1 from every ticket sold to local hospices
 

THE RESULTS:

  • Complete sell out for all three venues
  • One of the largest ever attendances for a live music event in Lancashire at Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road
  • Extensive coverage of the tour throughout the six-month period building up to the concert dates, including significant national coverage on the tour announcement
  • Securing exclusive story highlighting that Rod has finally hung up his football boots to avoid any pre-tour injuries
